Poor Dayton

Poor Dayton. That is what I have been hearing for the past 3 days. Dayton was playing in his last baseball game on Thursday when he went to steal 3rd base and collided with the 3rd baseman. Dayton immediately fell to the ground, I heard him screaming, the coach ran to him and yelled for the trainer, then he yelled for someone to get him his phone, at this point I told Mark to run down onto the field. I soon followed. The trainer told me that it is bad, he probably broke his tibia (shin bone) and that we need to take him to the ER, so we carefully transported him there and from there they sent us to the major children's hospital where we ended up staying the night. They are worried about compartment syndrome, swelling of the muscle, we were preparing for surgery all night and all day the next day, praying that he would not need it. However he is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday afternoon to repair the break, he is either going to receive flexible nails or a plate and screws in order to realign the leg. He is in major pain and although he is home I am not sure that he is resting comfortably. There is a worry of the swelling issue after the surgery as well. The Dr told us this is a very difficult bone to break and normally they don't see this type of break in anything other than a car accident. Poor Dayton.

He will be in a cast for 10 weeks to 3 months. We are already learning what a challenge this is going to be. There goes his whole summer... again, last year he broke his hand during the summer. He has exams next week as school is ending, I talked to his counselor and she told us not to worry, we will figure something out. I would sure appreciate your prayers and good wishes, it is getting pretty stressful around here!

Speaking of prayers, thank you so much for your prayers for Courtney, she came home last Saturday and we learned that the tumor was benign! We are so thankful! Ironically, Dayton is going to be in the same hospital that she was. He is scared about "going under" so we are hoping that Courtney can come over and be the voice of experience and ease his fears.

Well, I am exhausted and need to go to bed, just wanted to update everyone and ask once again that your cover us with your prayers. Mark's birthday is Monday and Myah's is Tuesday, the day of his surgery, I feel bad but what can you do? I hope that soon I will be back with some decorating posts, I promise soon!!

Special Prayer

This has been just one of "those" weeks. I won't bore you with all of my troubles, but I have one special request, that you pray for my sweet little 11 year old neighbor Courtney. My Monday morning started out with a phone call from my neighbor Amy telling me that she had an emergency and that she had already called 911 but could I please come down and watch her son until her husband Brian got home while she took Courtney to the hospital. I ran down the street, let myself in the house and found Amy in the bathroom with Courtney screaming in pain on the floor. She thought it was constipation, she had been to the Dr. a week ago with the same symptoms, just this time it was down her right side so Amy was afraid it was her appendix. My son Dayton had the same problem a few years ago after coming home from camp, Courtney had just been to 5th grade camp so we figured that was the culprit. If only it were that simple. The EMT came to the house and determined that she was probably fine, no appendix problems and that Amy could take her to the ER herself instead of a traumatic ambulance ride. So my hubby loaded Courtney up and put her in their backseat, she was in alot of pain. As the day went on I noticed after several hours that they were still not home. I finally called Brian to see what was going on and he told me that the hospital found an ovarian tumor and could not help her so they sent her to the University hospital 10 minutes away. We are so fortunate to have 2 very wonderful hospitals so close by. They claimed that they have never seen a child this young with such a tumor. She has her own team of Dr's documenting everything. They removed a softball sized tumor on Wednesday, along with her right ovary. We are now waiting to hear what the pathology reports indicated, whether it is the big bad disease or not, they already put a stint in for her during surgery in case she needs chemo. This is where you come in, please join us in lifting this sweet family up in prayer, please pray that the tumor was benign and that she can come home and return to her normal, scooter riding little life. Poor Amy couldn't eat all week and has been an emotional wreck, I really can't imagine. We are all in a state of shock, we thought she was going in for consitpation and then we find out that she is the first case this huge hospital has ever seen with this type of tumor. We are so thankful that we are so near such a great hospital and her care can continue while she is close. It was thought she may have been able to come home today, I haven't seen much life over there the past two days so I am not sure. They live 2 doors down from us and are just wonderful neighbors, when we moved in Courtney was a year old. She is just the sweetest young lady and I love when her and her little brother will come knocking on our door to see if Dayton wants to come out and play with them. I am sure their lives are forever changed by the events that have taken place this week, we will be there for them, however they need us, but right now I feel the only thing that I can do is spread the word to pray for little Courtney. Thanks so much!!!

Pizitz Home Furnishings Love

When we visited Seaside last month there was a store in the center of town that captured my heart. I loved the slipcovered furnishings, the serene calm that you felt as soon as you walked through the doors, and the minimalistic style that felt warm at the same time. Beachy. I visited there 3 or 4 times and brought my friends back! Here is a little glimpse into Pizitz Home Furnishings. Just for the record, this is exactly how I would love my house to look!

These pics are not the greatest, I was being discreet and quick in my picture taking, I did get permission from this sweet little gal working the counter, she was from Michigan and was coming home in a few weeks to marry her soldier!

Loved these so I much I brought one home.....see below! Oh and my mom bought me the bowl!

These are two other things I purchased while I was there!

This one I took while they were closed through the window.

I love these bowls! They had the coolest kitchen items!

Then we went into one of the other couples' condos and noticed that their decor was done by Pizitz too!

I loved those bird pictures paired with the antique mirror!

Oh how I love Pizitz! I cannot wait to return! Hopefully with a big fat wallet!!! (hey a girl can dream right?! )

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

This has to be probably one of my favorite gifts that Mark has ever given me! My mom and sister both have Trollbead bracelets and I wanted one so bad for a long time. On Christmas morning he surprised me with my very own! We weren't supposed to do anything for each other this year, I cried! He started me out with the bracelet and 3 beads, since then we have added to it. In January during the week of the 14th it was the first anniversary of my Dad's passing and Mark bought me a bead for every day of that week. So sweet. I love these bracelets, each bead has a special meaning. For instance mine range from my Grandmother's name (Florence), to Moon Ocean ( you know how I love the ocean! ) The Great Wall ( because we climbed the Great Wall when we adopted our daughter from China), Abba, because me, my mom and Myah love Momma Mia (actually I have always loved Abba), Khaki stripe, duh, I love khaki and stripes, black squirrel because my Dad used to take me with her squirrel hunting when I was little ( I never hunted, too scared! ) and Team for Dayton, it is a cool silver bead representing all sports. I need just a few more to complete my bracelet. I treasure this gift so much and love adding to it.

This time of year there are so many beautiful items in the stores to purchase. I love browsing the malls this time of year. I feel so bad for the guys that are walking around aimlessly looking for something that they think would make their wife happy. I thought I would give my little list of things that I think any momma would love to receive. ( I know I would, hint hint!) How can you go wrong with Anthropologie? I browsed around there the other day and so many things caught my eye. I thought these were just precious! Flower measuring cups and spoons! Wouldn't these just brighten up mom's kitchen?!

I actually had them wrap this one up for me as a little treasure, little measuring cups that are shells. See how cute it looks in my kitchen!!?

I love my pillows from my sister's little business Lettered Threads. She can personalize them with your own special numbers or letters.

I love this line, although I have only purchased the sample $9 bottle of perfume, I don't know any woman who wouldn't love a gift of Lollia! They are a bit pricey, isn't that what we do on Mother's Day, buy her something she would never buy herself?! I fell in love with all of their fragrances but Wish was my favorite.

It is no secret that I am turning 40 this year, oh my a few months to be exact, and I have decided it is time to take better care of my skin. People always think I am younger than what I am (I would like to keep it that way! ) I do see my skin changing so much lately. I have used Arbonne before in the past but their new RE9 Advanced anti aging line is incredible. I have a good friend who sells it and she gave me a sample, oh my I am not kidding when I tell you I saw visible results within an hour, no joke slowpoke!!! So I had me a little pampering party with my friends the other night and earned this whole collection for next to nothing! I am so happy with my products, they smell amazing and use only the best natural ingredients. Love it! They even have a lift product that will give you a mini facelift for 12 hours!

I love my panini maker, this one is from Williams Sonoma and is on sale this week. We use ours for everything, grilling, making quesadillas, paninis etc. A great addition to any mom's kitchen! My sweet hubby just surprised me with Kari Jobe's cd, she is a CCM artist and I love her style. She has a gorgeous voice and I love her music, very inspiring and relaxing at the same time. Plus she is as cute as a button and her blog is eye candy!

Us mom's love a good movie! I am running out today to buy It's Complicated, I have not seem it yet but everyone told me how good it was, my mother in law sent me the sweetest card and a gift card to Target for mom's day (isn't that just the nicest?) and I am going later to pick it up! I also saw the Blindside last week, talk about an inspiring mom! Loved it too!

I am in love with Essie nail polish, especially because I can buy it at Target or Meijers now. I love the Ballet Slipper shade, so delicate.

I spotted these adorable mom/daughter aprons at Anthro the other day too! I grew up in a family where we wear our aprons when we cook so my kiddos always want their own too. I know I would have loved to have my own little apron when I was helping my Grandma and Momma cook!

I saved my favorite gift for last. The other day I was in a store and saw these boxes full of quotes, like super cool quotes, 365 of them to be exact. The store was selling the quotes individually but they can be purchased in a whole set. I love this gift. Say it again, I LOVE this gift!!! It is made by Sugarboo Designs and comes in a white or black box. I have a few of these quotes hung around my house! I found mine locally at RSVP in Plymouth.

Here they are in my house.
"Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don't unravel" Love that one!

Hope this inspires some of you to get something beautiful and meaningful for your sweet mother this year!

Oh Vera!

The dining room

One of the guest suites!

I have had my eye on one of these jewelry cases for a while, I love this pattern called "make me blush".

I love this one too!

Here are Sherry and I outside the Inn

I so badly wanted to go and take a peak inside!
The outside looked so pretty!

Oh how I would love to do this in my yard!

You can go see the real estate listing for yourself by going here
If you have an extra 4.5 million laying around it can be yours!

I love Vera Bradley, it is no secret. I was supposed to go to her factory outlet sale this weekend but I ended up having to change my plans. I have had friends go that tell me it is the only way to buy Vera, very cheaply I might add. There is always next year right?

With Mother's Day approaching this weekend I always have a little Vera wish list on hand. Lately, Vera has made it very easy to do that, she has tons of super cute things!
When I was in Seaside I got to see the Vera Bradley Inn By the Sea, a bed and breakfast owned by VB (although I heard it is for sale now). I would have loved to stay there, each room was decorated in all VB! And you receive a VB bag for being a guest. Wouldn't that be lovely?! Anyhow, I had to settle for a picture on their lawn with my friend Sherry and I with our matching Vera purses, I was happy just to see the place honestly. I am dreaming of Vera today.
